Day 14- your earliest memory

My memory sucks. Whenever my brother or sister talk about something and then ask "remember when bla bla bla?" I never have any idea what the hell they're talking about. It's quite unfortunate. So it can also be assumed that my first memory is probably 5 years later than it really should be...and probably skewed.

Solution: Im going to write a bunch of childhood memories that either come to mind quickly or that I just like.

1. That giant alligator stuffed animal. We always played with it when we went over nana and papas. I am pretty sure it was battery-operated and then stopped working (or kelly smashed it) and we just never fixed it. Thank god, that thing was kind of scary.

2. Kelly and I always used to walk and trace the outside border of the rug in nanas living room. We'd walk in a line for like half an hour at a time or chase each other around. Good, clean toddler fun.

3. A lot of my early memories are of getting ready for shul or being in shul. I remember this one time the Rabbi wanted me to explain the reasons for the etrog in front of the congregation. I was psyched! And I think I did a good job. I loved my 5 minutes of jew glory.

4. When my mom told us we'd have another brother or sister. I remember this so vividly it's insane. We were sitting in her old white Mitsubishi Gallant, I was behind the driver's side and kelly was in the seat to my right and we were fighting over whether or not we wanted it to be a boy or a girl. I said it would be a girl. He desperately wanted it to be a boy so that he could build his army against me.
I win!

5. Teaching Tori to swim. That's not an early memory by any means (I was like 11), but I like this one :) She couldnt float for the longest time!

6. Pre-school....and my first week of first grade when my friend Amanda (who I had met in preschool) came and joined our class. I just remember yelling out, "Hey I know her!". Proud moment of social achievement right there.

That's it.

  1. haha aww! teaching someone to swim is so impressive! I couldn't swim until I was like 8! it took so many years of lessons before anything stuck.
