Tracing through Lyrics
I like that I can organize my life or characterize moments in time by albums. There are a few big players, but lot of randoms as well
T & S
So Jealous: Driving around WPB at midnight, singing in the car, longing....
The Con: .... & really identifying
Paramore
All We Know: Ray's music club, band tees, having great lyrics really hit home for me, songs stuck in my head for days at a time, singing in the shower
Riot! Dance parties with my sister
Brand New Eyes: Late night paper-writing in London, constant re-discovery
Incubus
Make Yourself: sudden surges of energy, getting ready for school in the morning
Smashing Pumpkins
(from Adore) "For Martha" is easily one of my favorite songs of all time. Also the saddest song you've ever heard. heart-wrenching piano.
Siamese Dream & Pisces Iscariot: reminds me of my brother
Yeah Yeah Yeahs: impulse buys, summers with Chloe, girl rage?
Eisley
Combinations & Room Noises: escape
The Valley: quiet contemplation. 2 AM. dim lights.
The Kooks
Inside In Inside Out: my favorite day in Amsterdam, obsessive music listening
Florence & the Machine: Sarah Marsh
(would have to add beyonce and lady gaga in general to this general time period haha)
Bon Iver
For Emma, Forever Ago: tulips, a quiet mind. and..napping in RushRhees :)
John Mayer/Jack Johnson: So much to say about these albums. Most of high school.
Notably Room For Squares, Heavier Things
The Hush Sound
Goodbye Blues: Summer 2010, long days, jazz hands
So Sudden: Street painting, lots of chalk pastels
Relient K, Mhmm & Five Score and Seven Years ago: general pick-me-up. Pretty sporadic, and constant.
Radiohead
OK Computer: 8th and 9th grade, poetry at the computer desk, solitude
Nora Jones, Feels like Home: not sure what to say about this one
Phoenix, Passion Pit: May 2010-Finger Lakes, wine trailing with Olivia, my first afternoon on a pier, sunny days
The Who: Road tripping with my mama :)
Probably more to come. I like this game.
Next challenge might be pin-pointing specific songs. tough one.

um, it was probably the day (and a half) I was alone wandering around...went into a GIANT music store thing that was randomly placed in the middle of all these mom-and-pop type shops. And I listened to the Kooks album I listed here and I think some Goldfrapp thing...it was pretty awesome. That was my Kooks discovery.
did you wander around overnight!?
ReplyDeletealso that is awesome.
um, sort of? i found it quite creepy at night....so i hung out in the hostel w/ italians and this australian named Zach. Much better choice haha.
